Hello there!
My name is Heather and I have lived in Rowlett for about 6 years. I am married, have 2 sons, and a bundle of joy on the way! I work full time and was a student up until my recent pregnancy. I was going to Richland College working toward a certificate in Landscape Design. One thing you should know about me is that I tend to be a wee-bit sarcastic. I will do my best to curb that trait as much as possible as sarcasm does not read well even on virtual paper! :)
Since moving to Rowlett I have seen a lot of changes take place. Some for the better and some that I wasn't really sure why at the time it was of any value to its citizens. Recently, I have started to follow projects more closely and have become very interested in the way the city works. I have no experience in politics (aside from watching the Daily Show with John Stewart) but even I can see that for such a small city we have big problems!
I believe that it is important that we, the citizens of Rowlett, really get into what is going on in our city. Times are changing and the city is growing in population - there's only so far we can grow! We'll never be the size of up and coming metro areas such as Frisco or Allen, that's why I feel it should be easier for our citizens to get involved. I would especially like to see younger citizens get involved and take action for what they feel is right for the place they are growing up in and may raise their own family here one day.
Anyway, I will be helping Brad with articles and insights for the blog. Please feel free to contact me with any ideas or feedback.
Thanks and nice to "meet" you!
